why is it funny if buffet has no payroll taxes nor cap gains and just lived that year on money in the bank his taxes would be zero, do you know how taxes work

Actually that is only true in once sense. It is a confused line. Buffett pays at a lower percentage of his Federal taxable income than does his secretary.
