Hi Jan, I should explain my daily data routine. I download from Quotes plus, run their extract-o program, scan (to reduce the database to a reasonable size)within Q+, then convert the scan results to metastock format. It takes several hours to convert a 10,000 stock universe from Q+ to M/S so I don't convert the whole thing except for special cases. I'm not a big fan of "disk thrashing code." Converting the whole database is non-stop disk thrashing (it doesn't have to be this way--the code could be written "smarter" (and could be MUCH faster)but that's a different story). I don't know if you've ever checked, but after a couple hours of non-stop disk thrashing, disk drives get very hot. Having had a bad experience under similar circumstances before, I tend to shy away from disk thrashing routines. To make a long story short, I won't be able to add the additional screening factor (at least, not in this lifetime) because Q+ doesn't have these indicators. I generally reduce the database by setting a minimum closing price of $15, and maybe add a relative strength requirement also. I'll give this a shot after I download today's data and let you know. The <$15 requirement may not be a good one here since it looks like you're concentrating on lower priced stuff? I'll try a couple things.
