Bill Gates sings for Barbara Walters seattletimes.com

Ok, so I was wrong about the dancing shoes. Bill takes another path to establishing a beachhead for Kinder, Gentler II. Sounds like it went better than with Connie Chung. Mostly it's a warm and cuddly Bill we'll see, but you got to touch on the issue at hand.

Gates repeated assertions that government regulation of software, such as the U.S. Justice Department's current action to prevent Microsoft from forcing computer makers to ship its browsers with Windows PCs, is a bad idea. He compared the approach to requiring a car manufacturer to sell wheels, engines and radios separately from the vehicle itself.

Back to the much-traveled Chrysler car radio. What the heck, no sense breaking new ground with Baba Wawa.

Gates also talks about his plans to give away his fortune and what it feels like to be called "evil" and "the devil."

Aw, come on Bill. How many times do I have to say, it was a joke. Business is war, war is hell. Oh, I forget, Bill's just a software engineer, a humble programmer. Businessman? Nah.

Cheers, Dan.
