Star,

Like you, I also favor replacing our current tax system with a modest national sales tax. From an economic incentives point of view, it is incomparably more efficient than an income tax.

Given the weakness and lack of inteligence / foresight of our politicians, however, I am not holding my breath...

This is not a tax. It is confiscation. And since those great Republicans have been in power, how much tax relief have you seen? I don't mean rhetoric, I mean actual relief. All we have is a more complex tax code.
