Rarebird,
Everyone is entitled ( stressing entitled) to a living wage.
A "living wage" for doing what? Interpretive dance therapy? Greeting people at the front door of Walmart? Streaming video games on Twitch.tv?

You are paid for the value of your own labor. Not all jobs produce value that is equivalent to the living costs of the proverbial single mom of two.

If you think the value of labor can artificially be raised by fiat, you are fooling yourself. The market will compensate by either eliminating (or outsourcing) jobs, cutting hours, or raising prices on the poor and middle class. Usually it will be a combination of all three.

The LAST thing that will happen is the gap between rich and poor shrinking as a result.
