It will take a few weeks to see if the soaring case rate is matched by hospitalizations.
Since the end of July, the most patients they have had in intensive care on any one day is 5. That's why they are saying this is like a flu. Most people who catch the virus don't even need treatment. They recover on their own.

What struck me yesterday is we HAVE flu shots that are supposed to lower the case and death rates... so without the shots, it might be a lot closer than a severe flu.

What IS different is the transmission rate. I heard on the news last night of a new strain of COVID-19 (different DNA) that seems to be less deadly BUT more transmissible. That makes sense as Darwin would say it is best to not kill your host, just keep it alive to pass on your DNA.

It is still possible that more die with the less deadly C19 or even a less severe flu due to a higher transmission rate.

BTW, while typing I was listening to our Santa Clara county health people talk about our reaching the next level of reopening, the ORANGE level... they said we're the largest county in the state to reach this level. I think we were the first in the nation to shut down too.

They are only allowing 25% indoor capacity and adding some hoops to jump through to allow protesting outdoors while keeping sporting events closed to observers. Maybe the 49ers should hand out BLM towels and call it a protest to get fans in the stadium?

They spent a lot of time trying to discourage ANYONE in high risk from going inside to eat, pray, protest or watch a movie... which is good.

I wonder if anyone inside Taxifornica will find this offensive enough to change who they vote for?
