Thank you for pointing out the obvious, Frank. Cigarettes kill over 400,000 Americans every year. It seems to disturb religious right wing people that their children are bound to become sexually active some day, and so they "protect" them from sex EDUCATION and then just hope for the best. Unfortunately, since the average age at which children all over the western world bcome sexually active is fifteen-and-a-half, ignorance is not a great protection, and in fact leads to increased rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Europe, which has a more realistic attitude about teenage behavior, and provides sex education and contraception without a lot of moral judgment, has a much lower rate of teenage abortion and pregnancy.

C'mon Frank and Janice, if you had to list the the two most dangerous things facing teenagers today. Don't tell me that you would say first or second hand smoke??

Get real.

Whether you believe in sex education or not doesn't matter. The fact is promiscuity represents a much greater danger to teenagers than smoking. (not directed at you but some other clueless poster)

Michael

You can have sex safely, how do you have a cigarette or second hand smoke safely?

You don't inhale.

(I couldn't resist...)
