No offense taken... toll lanes are very Libertarian, so I should like them.
Haven't been to taxifornia in a while as i, no offense, tend to avoid the land of fruits and nuts but if you haven't been to the "Right" Coast in a while they have "pay lanes" ala ez pass lanes that you can avoid traffic by paying a few dollars and avoid the heavy traffic...

But I remember voting for higher taxes to add capacity to the roads and vowed NEVER AGAIN when they told us later these new lanes would be HOV for big companies that were moving in and ruining our neighborhoods with gentrification, inflated RE prices, etc... to get their workers to work quicker in double decker busses and commute partners from lower cost suburbs. Making them pay lanes means the big companies can pay a bit more salary to their workers to cover it while the gardeners, teachers, plumbers and first responders can drive to work in slower traffic watching the wealthy zip buy in the lanes they helped pay for.

My commute is short... bedroom to dining room where I have my office... so I win with a property tax rate locked in 26 years ago with 2% a year increases... but even so, I just got the bill where it passed over $1,000 a month to live in a 64 year old home that has very few upgrades. My back fence neighbor, when he eventually finishes his 6,500 sq ft Mansion, will probably pay $6,000 a month, give or take, so I can't get too upset while celebrating my foresight to buy when I did as a way to lock in low personal inflation...

but it sure seems unfair for those who can afford $6,000 a month just in property taxes to get short commutes for a few more dollars. Now if you look at them probably making enough to be in the 13.3% rate... maybe they deserve some perks for paying the majority of our taxes for all the "fruits and nuts" social programs including nearly free everything for illegal aliens including education at UC displacing legal citizens.

Ugh.... I have to take deep breaths to recall how good I have it despite a bumper crop of "fruits and nuts" attracting so many rats!
