Yes, its the product advertised in testamonial type TV ads that at the end feature a red box; SGD likes the ABC Friday 10pm slot for advertising, among others. The Alpha Hydrox formula is not patented, so whether its a trademark, I'm not sure. The key ingredient is Alpha Hydroxy acid (fruit acid). Other cosmetic companies have competing products.

Hi Allen, Scotts Liquid Gold produces AHA "RED BOX" advertisements

Bill Driscoll addressed your questions and look forward to your interest in SGD (NYSE). Here is SGD's info site:

businesswire.com

Scotts is a muti-product consumer company, smaller than , but similar to Dial (DL) and Chattem (CHTT) . From '94 to '96 SGD's sales grew rapidly due to its AHA products.

In '96 SGD's AHA sales fell and a EPA lawsuit caused it to divert funds away from advertising to settling the suit.

SGD recovered and learned . In 4Q97 when sales softened SGD stepped up and advertised heavily , so early 1Q98 sales look terrific .

SGD in '97 had sales of $50 mln but 4Q contributed only $10 mln of it yet 4Q produced $3,9 mln in cash due to non-recurring income items.

SGD saw 4Q97's downturn early and used its cash to advertise . SGD has successfully defended its name and product names in court .

Hope this helps,
Jim K.
