Wow, glad to hear you're doing better, let's hope that path continues!

Since the outbreak began the family has taken token actions i.e when
it began we got everything delivered, these days I go for curbside and
occaisonally go inside shopping. The wife and daughter work from home
while the son go into the office.

What I am trying to say is unless they go total lockdown they will never
get this under control, herd immunity might or may not work as it seems
no one knows for sure whether or not immunity can be had. our dear
leaders have been completely useless in doing anything to help their
populations fight this, why one asks, lack of an empathy gene might be
one answer, just plain evil another and then there is Mitch/Nancy/tRump
another "axis of evil"

Get well soon!

On long lasting immunity, there is no way to tell for sure until the time has actually passed. However the science is leaning towards long lasting immunity as the most likely case. This is because SARS Covid-2 appears to be more similar in behavior to SARS (like in the cells that it targets) than to the common cold and long lasting T-CELL memory has been proven with SARS (at least 7 years). And also it has been proven that SARS T-CELL memory helps with fighting off SARS Covid-2. And lastly long lasting T-CELL memory is key to increasing the probability that an effective vaccine can be made.

So there is some hope for the future if you already had it OR if you are waiting for vaccine.
