An interesting speculation, but I'm inclined to think that initially she simply panicked when confronted with the "evidence" of the Tripp tapes. She apparently had her own tapes, though--evidently answering machine stuff. One wonders why she kept them in the first place--do you? does anyone?--and why she didn't destroy them when the fur began to fly. I think as far as the proffer is concerned, she was simply following her attorney's instructions. BUT if Jeff's source is right and there's no semen at all on the navy blue whatever (dress? pantsuit?), then why on earth did she make up the story to begin with? That one could do truly enormous damage to her credibility.
