sounds like iomega isn't admitting there is a problem but i'm sure they don't
appreciate the bad press. there is even a click of death home page?

says its also being dicussed at "alt.iomega.zip.jazz". be interested in your
thoughts on the subject. <<

"You make my point..."

But you miss mine. Somewhere along the line most people want to transfer data in and out of their portables -- the ZIP offers a simple solution.

balloonman, my interpretation of FIDO's message is *not* the same as yours. It has to do with where the file actually resides, not the computer. I have a notebook, too, and a stationary (minitower) at work and home. If I want to transfer a 10 MB (or 1.45 MB) file between either desktop and the "highly portable" laptop, I can either:

(1) pull the minitower out from under the desk, disconnect the printer, attach a PP cable to allow me to transfer files with PCAnywhere (or another program), run the program on both boxes, and transfer the file, reconnect printer, push box back under desk (and I'd better be careful to do it slowly so as to not screw up the HD), or

(2) pop a Zip disk into computer A (say, the laptop), copy file, pop the Zip disk into the FRONT of computer B (minitower), copy file over.

I like option 2.
