Respond to of 26596 HI kirk, March was one of the scariest moments of the market I've ever experienced. I had no experience in my past with a pandemic. I bought with every penny of dividends I received (and jumped the gun a day or two if I knew a dividend was coming). I also sold about $70,074 of put premiums of XOM and CVX out into January of 2022. I sold the puts, which if assigned would yield me a stock price, such that the dividend yield was over 10%. My gamble was if they cut the dividend in half, I'd still be happy with a long term buy and hold for the dividend. Those premiums have now decayed to be only $55,650. So I'm 13 months off from knowing how good or bad a deal that becomes. To be honest, I was frozen with regard to taking on some margin during the depth of the decline. I only risked what my future accumulation of dividends would provide going out into the future. Since then, a lot of puts have expired to $00.00,which has taken the pressure off. I have been buying some Chevron (average ($66.30) with dividends (and KMI at $11.75 to $12.00) so that has advanced in value much faster than the decay of the far out puts. All in all those great buying points surely get pointed out by the clx studies. I have a patience issue when it comes to accumulating cash for those once to twice a year climax points, vs buying more stock when my yield return meets my targets. It's a balance between earning dividends throughout the year and dealing with a bit of draw down and/or buying at a better lower price. It's really all good, as I've learned from being a newbee, to now decades later, to not be too hard on one's self. It's easy to get blown off course with all of the noise and fear that is raised daily! Keep it going buddy, these are exceptional times. There will be a time where euphoria and the fast price rise of equities will have greed boiling in the blood of the masses. That elation and joy will not last forever. Then a long dry spell will besiege us. But for now, it lookin good! Bob
