Hi Whipsaw, At the end of the day, it is really up to the American people to decide the fate of their President. Last I heard America was a democracy. Will of the people and all that. It appears to me as an outsider that a very dedicated group of individuals has gone out of its way to destroy the President.

This linkage between the Paula Jones affair and the Lewinsky affair is not a coincidence. One can also not dismiss Kenneth Starr's ties to some of President Clinton's harshest critics (adverseries, enemies whathaveyou).

Hillary Clinton's decision to stand by her man has only strengthened the President's standing with the vast majority of voters. Guess what? The President is an imperfect human. Who isn't?

America and the rest of the World has had its laughs. Let's get on with business.

I agree. Barring some really startling new revelation, I think it's all over.

1. No semen on the dress. No physical evidence, and the negative test results will do a real job on Lewinsky's credibility. Now even Ginsburg is saying she "exaggerates".

2. Lewinsky's deposition to Jones's lawyers, and the part of Clinton's deposition that speaks to his relations with Lewinsky, will not be presented as evidence at the Jones trial. There is now some question as to whether any lies they may have told would constitute perjury in any sense, as they are no longer considered material to the Jones case (see today's Post for legal opinions).

3. Tripp's motives, always suspect, begin to look even more so.

Starr no longer seems to have very much to work with. I rather wonder whether he isn't wishing he'd left the whole thing alone...

Whipsaw,

I am so sick of hearing about the "polls". When are people going to realize that the "polls" reflect in large part how the "pollsters" slant the questions!
