Jack--

Men seem to have "con antennas" which are more finely tuned than those of women.

Fighting words, these. In my own view--and I suspect I'll be seconded by many women--men are frequently dreadful judges of character, impressed as they are by status, position, and title. Yes, there are women like that, but many fewer of us. I've seen quite a number of men I know personally utterly taken in by guys in positions of authority, never really noticing that they were jerks.

And I don't think Clinton actually did score with the girls in high school--even he has made jokes about being the kid in the Big Boy jeans.

I don't find him sexually attractive, though since I don't know him I can't really come to any conclusions on that point. My own feeling, probably shared by many women (and men) is that the Whitewater allegations are pretty small cheese compared to the misdemeanors of other presidents, and in fact Starr's been unable to prove anything except that he had sleazy friends. Which, I fear, is very often the case with politicians.

And what I've read--here and elsewhere--over the past week suggests to me that oddly, men may be more prudish about sexual adventurism than are women.

Jack,

<<I am still trying to figure out why so many women defend him, and why so many men find him repulsive. >>

I think your earlier use of the term sociopath seems to cover it all. We had a guy around here years back, slick son offa gun. Guys hated him but he was popular with the ladies. Women started to disappear. Got to the point that a guy couldn't get a dance at the watering hole. This guy always picked up dates because he was so "sincere". He was convicted of all 5 murders.

Jack,

"Men seem to have "con antennas" which are more finely tuned than those of women."

At the risk of being labeled sexist, I agree. Women "IN GENERAL" tend to be more trusting, and less likely to look for an ulterior motive. This has NOTHING to do with intelligence.
