I'm getting the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow. I have a lot of reasons why that outweigh the risk, especially since I'm now seeing 1-2 patients week with it and I can't bring it home, so I'm going to get it. Almost all of my partners will as well; three got it today. I wouldn't recommend it for people under the age of 50 unless you have some pre-existing condition that puts you at significant risk for hospitalization (obesity, diabetes, autoimmune issues, significant pulmonary or renal disease) or you're in one of the ethnic groups that seem to be hit much, much harder (Hispanics/Blacks). Under 40 and healthy and it's pretty much a mild bout of influenza. Elementary schools kids seem to be largely asymptomatic. No one knows the long term risks, especially if it turns out true that one of the protein binding sites on the receptor binding complex looks like a commonly produced placental protein. I'm not necessarily afraid of mRNA or that it's a new vaccine type -- I'm afraid of my body generating antibodies against the virus that will also attack me 6-12 months from now.
