Here's my favorite bible reference. Since hardly anyone actually reads the bible, most of what I knew of the bible came from what was taught at church. They left a lot out!

Studies have shown atheists know more about the bible than believers.

But put simply, all religions are simply myths left over from a day when we knew little science or logic and so as humans made shit up as they have done for tens of thousands of years.

Go to any primitive tribe and they will believe lots of stuff about spirits, etc, we know is not true.

The superstitions have been around for humans long before we settled down 15,000 years ago and are "imprinted" on children at a young age to the point many cannot pull themselves away from it

I will go to my grave unable to understand how people cannot figure out something so simple?

As I have posted before, if one substitutes tribal chief for god in any primitive religious writing it will make more sense and tell the tale.

And if it is not a primitive myth ingrained in the culture, then it is simple insanity-lol.

It is amazing how ignorant of the Bible most Christians actually are. Ask them any particular detail - they don't know - some will argue that well-know contradictions are not there. The attraction for evangelicals is that you don't have to do anything (including study the Bible - just another of your sins) as long as you show up and testify to your sins and say you seek Jesus. There is no catechism or reciting of the Torah. You basically just show up and say how much you love Jesus and no one questions it.

Not everyone is ignorant - but I'd say that the people attracted to vapid things are hardly ever interested in book learning.
