I heard Dr. Harvey Rubin comment once on his radio show about a technique that is known to work.

It consisted of choosing a short, three syllable mantra -- perhaps of nonsense but not necessarily. But you begin to focus on the mantra to the exclusion of everything else, repeating it and preventing your mind from escaping the loop of the repetition. I tried it and found it worked pretty well. That would have been about 30 years ago, I suppose.

For me, Melatonin clearly helps set the stage for going to sleep more quickly and sleeping a little more deeply.

I tried meditation and just about everything in my 20s. Lots of alcohol worked best. <ggg>

this may the cranial-sacral rhythm you are referring too. i know a few highly skilled osteopaths that practice these cranial type maneuvers.
