Hi GnG,

Ive hnted for decades with a 300 win mag.

Have added a 270 with 50mm scope for the finer shooting - if I practice or have time to settle down and plink a high speed projectile the shoots flat a loong ways.

I have a 900 foot long driveway. DANGER SHOOTING ZONE!

Nice muzzle - wouldn't want to be perpendicular to it - RINGING! (Smile)

On guns and gold...

GNG, I'd loves me sum' .300 Win Mag.

What kind of scope do you have on that baby?

With the realistic possibility of China Joe & his Fluffer Ho instituting an
semi-auto assault rifle ban, I'm looking at adding a nice, long range
precision bolt-action rifle.

The .300 Win Mag is a great call. There's a great 1,000+ yard rifle range
only about an hour away that's been calling my name. I've got a nice
DMR set up with a 5.56 Daniel Defense Mk 12 with the new Primary Arms
1x8 LPVO with the ACSS reticle and an off-set mounted RMR red dot.

i love this reticle for out to 400-600 yards (and am looking forward to seeing
if I can stretch it out to 800):

I'm going to need about a 50% pop in gold & silver here before I could justify the rifle and the
ammo prices for a 50 BMG or .338 Lapua which is "the toy" I really, really, really want.

I'm not a reloader (and don't want to be) so given current ammo prices I'm hesitant to venture
into a .300 Win Mag which is more doable, or even the 6.5 Creedmoor which some of the really
good shooters at that 1,000+ yd. range are doing some magical shit with...

So having a decent supply of 7.62 x 51/.308 on hand, and knowing my now old eyes are not
getting any better, and given the reality that 600 yards is more than enough and 800 yards
would be enough of a challenge, I just may look for a nice high line .308 bolt action and then
see how far I can stretch it out with some good glass...

Although, I know once I get behind a friend of mine's 6.5 Creedmoor and clang my first steel
out around a thousand yards, it's going to be hard to resist that 6.5 (got wood just thinkin' about it).

Behind every blade of grass — a rifleman.

'Murica!
