Yeah, for someone who wants to be invested in that many stocks they would be better off investing in mutual funds. You will get about the same results with none of the headaches.

I have some of really old stock too that I inherited from my mom. My grandfather (her dad) was an engineer for the Illinois Highway Dept. and way back then he saw that this company called 3M was making all the new highway signs because they make the reflective material so he invested heavily in the company. Anyway, she ended up leaving me blue chip stock in 3M that is decades old. I don't even know how many splits there have been.
