That varies by state. Sometimes the appointment lasts until the next scheduled election whether the class is due or not. Other states make the appt last until the class is up. Sometimes the state has the governor schedule a special election (that happened after Ted Kennedy died). It goes state by state.

I see the AP has now called it for Warner too, and they are showing Ossoff as almost certain to win. Looks like only about 80K votes left, with the vast majority being mail ins.
