Who the heck do you think the FDIC is? The taxpayer. You pay for it buy higher rates or taxes take your pick. As for Mexico, what have they repaid with... borrowed U.S. paper? You are living in a dream world.

You are correct the article is full of half truths. Chrysler did repay and Continental used FDIC money. The tricky one is Mexico - yes they paid early, but they used IMF money to do so. The IMF loan came right after we put new money into the IMF. Coincidence? It's a matter of how much you trust the politicians. The big press conference made me suspicious - which is why I looked into it.
