When are the earnings due to be announced Tim? That will put an end to the short speculation, at least for awhile. Selling at a price to book of 1.7 with no debt and having a consensus long term earnings growth rate of 32.5% with three of four analysts rating the company a buy or better I can think of better companies for shorts to attack, unless this is just a very short term attack based on last quarter's earnings.

I would view this as a buying opportunity, a major one, and have been a buyer last week. Of all the companies I've been buying BIOI appears by the numbers to be the most attractive now: members.aol.com

As was noted, this is not the only biotech to be weak, and as you know this sector comes and goes with regard to whether it is in favor.

Best - Joe

Stock repurchase

I don't believe co. or insiders can purchase stock until after earnings are announced( someone correct me if I am wrong). I would expect co. to repurchase stock, as they did in Dec. at these prices, reguardless of earnings soon after they are announced. If poor obviously they would wait for stock to react before repurchase and if ea. are excellent repurchase may be smaller.

Does anyone know when earnings are to be announced? I would think it is sometime this week.

The shortng doesn't indicate to me that there's any pending bad news. Look at triby's short interest for example. It mirrors bioi's. I see a general attack on micro health stocks, not any news specific to bioi. Whenever I've seen a market sector in decline, it's a good sign to start buying. I saw the same in 1987 after the last big one and bought into oil stocks and made my best returns ever. Last spring, the chip market was in the tank and those who bought in made their money in May and June. I see bioi and triby as positioned well in their sector with good fundamentals who stand to make a great return for their investors.
