(1) If you are correct, re <<the rich>>, it might suit them best to try and safeguard the system that enabled / facilitated their wealth, since by definition <<the ignorant, and the stupid>> shall not likely be able to.

(2) OTOH, should Trump simply be a result of whatever is happening at the grassroots, then his departure from the official chain of command changes nothing very much, and there shall be other Trump-esque leaders-in-wait. Might be that the 'other side' know this might be true, and an attempt at thorough de-Trump cultural revolution tee-ed up, which would not be helpful, because ideological struggles tend to be fruitless / fruit-less all of the times, especially when both sides adopt monetary- / social- policies that migrate more middle class towards the wrong end of the spectrum, and a class struggle is mixed in.

(3) Ideological struggles between nations are healthy, as it focuses the minds within both nations, and the economic results does the telling of the story.

Ideological struggles w/I a nation not as helpful. I am not familiar with the USA state / federal systems, re how much might a state do to negate the less helpful aspects of federal policies.

(4) OTTH, should one side, any side, not react to the other side, i.e. go after them hard, also hard, as refusal to engage when all under one roof resolves absolutely nothing, marking time, until not good.

(5) It can be that America needs to lock on to another big war that focuses the minds under the roof, even as big wars may have contributed to the current state of 49/51.

(6) Dunno, idle speculations re the big experiment, complicated by other big and complicated experiments happening at same time, and <<data>> is coming in but confusingly.

(7) Other experiments happening elsewhere, Russia, China, EU, Japan, India, Brazil, etc etc, with one difference, few are kibitzing as authoritatively as USA, all at least try to focus on own roof, and none playing with the global reserve currency.

(8) No, I do not consider the Euro or Yen as reserve currencies.

Whichever currency gold is commonly quoted in is the reserve currency, and between the fall of one reserve currency and the rise of the next, during the darkest interregnum, gold likely come to the fore, a guess.

:0) everything leads to ... gold ... the true, elemental, eternal, shiny and precious, etc etc
