Money that the companies has to spend fixing y2k problem does not necessary go to y2k vendors. Most companies is doing the job internally and the y2k vendors has to pay their programmers too. Facing the possibility of skyrocketing salary for y2k programmers, bidding y2k service job is like short sale their service. Prudent vendors do not overbid much more job than their capacity.

I'm a value investor (identify big discrepancy between the true value and the market value). At this stage, the odds are against you in the y2k stocks. Maybe some of these that have factory in India is worth considering, but this is not a recommendation to buy. My recommendation is best to stay away.

BTW, I have to admit I was bear since early 1997, particularly the software (tool) vendors.
