One negative to using an old PC as a NAS, is power consumption. Unless you plan on having it off a lot it can add up.

My NAS which is designed to be on all of the time has few power demands.

Just a thought My NAS without drives cost less than $400.

I remember a time when U would not use SSD. I love them, so fast a slow computer can become very fast with a simple SSD upgrade. Nice to see you are using them my friend.
