Of course, the purpose of this odd impeachment trial is not to convict - it's out of reach. The goal for Democrats is purely political - to show real face of Republicans who were ready to end democracy in this country by promoting a coup to overthrow legal elections.

Alex, Pre-Insurrection meeting at Trump International Hotel. I have to wonder if there is any information that will get any other Republicans to change their minds. Some are so beholden to Trump, they will twist into whatever pretzel is necessary to not vote for impeachment. But some, like McConnell, are going to use the extra time to try to figure out whether they should vote for or against Trump. I think it is too difficult for them to tell which is the best route to saving their jobs. And they will want to see how the country(as Fox News) reacts to any revelations that come out during the trial. I also wonder if any of the people at the meeting were wearing masks. My guess is probably not.
