Belknap was guilty of receiving illegal kickbacks. The senators who voted to acquit him did so, not because they believed he was innocent, but because they viewed the trial itself as invalid. That is all on the record if you care to do some reading about it.

Blount's impeachment in 1799 was the precedent, where the senate voted that their own trial lacked jurisdiction.

These are the facts. And it is clear that this senate trial of Trump lacks jurisdiction and thus is unconstitutional. The text of the constitution is direct on this issue. And people who say there is precedent don't know what they are talking about.

Now, unless you have something of substance to contribute on this topic, I am done discussing it with you.
