how to bridge the abortion issue,

It seems to me that individual rights would be a right wing anchor, but the power of religious organizations to insist on obsequiousness and the regular and repetitive messaging is a more powerful tool.

I have been thinking about this new dynamic and the 15 Republicans that voted against Trump.

I hear some may not run again for fear of being primaried by right wingers.

But as I read most are in swing districts, so I think they have a play here.

Their best move would be for all of them to become "Independents."

That could rescue them at the voting booth, as no primary problem, and they could draw votes from both parties and independents.

2) And they could have great power as swing voters.

3) And they would get out from under the control by Trump and the crazies;

AND they could face their children again-lol.

This 50/50 deal with the two parties offers an ideal opportunity for independents to capture the moderate vote enough to form a viable new party.

This gap won't be bridged because their is too much money involved on the right. In the South there is a church on every street corner with an Elmer Gantry preacher extracting 10% out of his flock by flogging this issue. Without the abortion issue a lot of these "churches" would fold.

The left doesn't message well. Folks who are against abortion are only in reality only against abortion for poor people who can't afford to travel. Anyone with money can easily travel to a place that offers safe abortion services. The left doesn't really focus on that part of the issue. IMHO

Here is the problem with the abortion issue: "it is a dilemma".

There is no right or wrong answer per se.

So as mentioned, Dilemmas come down to people having to just make a decision.

The abortion issue is huge around the world e.g. Poland and other eastern European nations.

But I think because of the nature of that issue, there is no real middle ground.

What I think will happen is that now it is the "higher order thinkers" who feel pro choice is the way that issue needs to be decided.

The kids are using places like google and youtube to learn and learn and learn. They have learned to learn, about everything, and that leads to higher order thinking; and so over time, just like gay marriage, pro choice will win.

The kids voted for Trump the least and there are more of them every day and less of the old white dudes.

I'd hate to see dems cave on abortion- but it would be nice to rope in the single issue voters. But it sure would be a pisser to sacrifice a woman's right to govern her own body over that. You are, I think, a man- so you wouldn't understand from experience just how completely a pregnancy takes over your body- on every level.

I would never, ever, support forcing women to be pregnant when they did not wish to be, or to have children they did not wish to have. That's some scary level shit- forcing that on a person.
