Typically in the $120k - $140k range but varies widely by region and discipline. That wasn't my point though

And what do marketing and sales folks make? My grandson (marketing Penn State) started at 50K for Oracle last year, is at about 55K now... His older brother is with Microsoft.....started at 2x his bro 5 years ago..

. A lot of smart people don't do engineering because they know over the long haul they'll make more money with a lowly business degree. The STEM folks salaries are limited mainly due to H1B's. If H1B's were limited to finance/sales/marketing disciplines the smart folks would opt for engineering over business degrees.

STEM people are there because they have the skill and apptitude to get a degree in those disciplines, they could also go in business etc but the business guys can't do science and engineering.

There is a shortage of hi-tech PhD's in this country and that's why hi-tech companies keep pressing the gov. for more H1Bs
