LOL, I'm one of them. Silicon Valley is now a unique environment though. My son that is 29 has a degree in Bio-engineering and has transitioned to QA of software on hardware. Started out of school in the low $60's and he'll likely make nearly $250k this year as an individual contributor. $180k of that is salary.

My lady friend's son just graduated from Bezerkely with a BA (Not BS) in computer science and will make $160k -$180k this year. Crazy? Yes but that's what the market will bear here. The finance/sales/marketing folks at these companies will make even more though and do everything they can to reduce the engineers' salaries. They would make a lot more without the H1B's.
