Umnik,

6 month implementation in a small to mid size is no problem. In fact, on Feb 17 we are going live. Start to finish: 4 months (for FI,PS and CO). Most of the work was completed by a core Implementation Team of 4 people (two from my company and two consultants from Intech Professionals, www.intech-pro.com).

My impression is that many SAP implementations fail or progress slowly because of poor project management. The implementation should viewed as a two step process: (1) define the company's business and (2) define the transactions that the company will use.

The first step is probably the hardest and certainly the most nebulous, it seems that many companies operate without a clear understanding of their goals and the purpose of ancient SOPs. With the implementation of SAP (or any other business wide systems) you have to ask "why are we doing business this way."

The second step should be pretty academic, once the business is defined, the rest of the SAP implementation is just a bunch of menu paths.

SAP can be a cash machine for consultants when deliverables are not clearly defined. I have heard of implementations that lasted for two years.

Our consultants were paid on delivery and not by the hour.

Got to run, we have a deadline.

Greg

Umnik,

Can you cite some examples of the Accelerated Implementation?

Which companies have used it? I have never heard of anyone completing an implementation in 12 weeks using ASAP.

Thanks!
Greg
