Dear All - Its great to see so many people so excited about our web site. Here is the executive Summary: We have new coke, we still have old coke, we are going to keep both flavors around, but we will change the logo on the old-coke bottles. Let me clear up a few things. First of all, if you have visited our old site, as you explore the new site please make sure you do a browser Refresh often. Especially Netscape users, which is notorious at caching pages you don't want cached. You can bookmark the login page, it is NOT a frame page (on purpose, of course) and if you read it you will notice 2 login buttons, one to the classic site, one to the new enhanced site. The classic site is here to stay, please don't panic. It will get a minor face lift, using colors and tables to match the new site, but NO gifs, and NO frames. No Javascript. fast and pure. The Express Server is here to stay too. While I think the new site is great for the "normal" investor, for people who watch our site all day long, I agree those gifs and frames can be distracting and unnecessary. And remember, nobody wants to keep Datek Online's web servers humming more than I do! In the web department I think I am called "Minimum GIF count Peter". Or something less flattering. But I really want the "classic" site to be rolled over to the new software, its so much faster in getting your orders into the system, and will support the new features that you want, so you will be getting the fractions, colors, and tables on the classic site. For those of you who watch quotes on a web browser all day long and don't want to get a 21" monitor, try using the font size control features on your browser. It should work great on those new tables. I would love to give you all deadlines on when we will release new features, such as Level II, minimum share orders, etc... but ever since I lost that Lobster dinner bet on the NYSE rollout (the dinner is still unclaimed), I much prefer to just release the services rather than hype them and be late. I am morally opposed to the whole vapor-ware mentality. I will tell you this: 1) Datek Online has no plans to perform online OTC - Bulletin Board trading, as there is no automated price discovery, electronic quote dissemination, or true electronic order handling for those stocks. 2) Datek Online will do options, but we are a quarter away. Thanks for the comments. -Peter Datek Online
