My 2 cents on "Classic Datek"... After playing around with the new site this week, I feel I should join the chorus of folks shouting at you that the old site is much better, and that you should--as you have said you would--keep it, permanently. My viewpoint is that of a daytrader who makes 80-100 trades a month (plus innumerable false starts, cancellations, stop-sets, etc.) and who monitors quotes constantly throughout the trading day. I settled on Datek after experiencing E*Trade, eSchwab and Lombard/(Discover)and finding them not as suitable for daytrading. As others have pointed out: 1. The new site is too fussy, not clean, harder to read. 2. You can see more stocks without scrolling on Classic Datek. 3. It's easier to click around to Open Orders etc, on the old site. These things all matter because speed is so important in daytrading. The most important problem on the new site, for me, however, is that once an order is placed and the confirm screen comes up, I do not get to see the spread. The spread is of the utmost importance to me in deciding whether to pull the trigger. I very much appreciate Datek's open and responsive attitude here on SI. I think the product is great. I look forward, patiently, to Level II and All or None. I do like, very much, the charts available on the new site. Datek's major problems, as I currently see them, are that: 1. It is not consistently reliable during the first half hour of trading, nor during the last ten minutes of the day, prime trading times. 2. The site seems to slow down, or quit, too often, when I use it heavily. I deal with this by keeping more than one window open to it, and switching windows when this happens, or by re- entering. I am utterly technologically-impaired, so this may well be some Internet or computer-related problem and not Datek. On a lighter note: green is a delightful, restful color, too often necessary to nervous daytraders. I'd vote to keep it on Classic Datek. Tomabre
