Surely more valuable as the value of the software.
The Tesla is a device.

So the SW developers of traditional carmakers have a fixed target to shoot at. Elon was the pioneer who got the Indians arrows and showed them the way.

Direct to consumer first was GM in Brazil circa 2000-01

The Europeans were surprised. A GM Capital Finish guy friend of mine told me as I didn't know.
He was taken aback that from all places Brazil had done it first.

ABSTRACT:
Today the Arctic is one of the world’s key regions both economically and in terms of military security.
The melting of glaciers opens up not only previously inaccessible territories, but also prospects for global economic and geopolitical rivalry in the Northern hemisphere with the main players of North Europe (Norway, Finland, Denmark), Russia, the United States, and China.

Article emphasized that the development of the Arctic opens up new trade routes, new zones of influence and billions of dollars in profits. It is the warming of the planet that is largely responsible for this change in thinking, and with polar ice diminishing at a record rate, greater arctic activity could be upon us very soon.

But as there are multiple national claims on polar territory, there are also numerous legal issues to be worked out. The author underlines that the favorable geographical significance and resource potential of the region make the Arctic one of the key maritime links of the Chinese Belt and Road initiative, as well as titbit for Russia’s ambitious on building Arctic infrastructure and important part of world’s North transshipment waterways.

You have heard it all over the past 6 months:
-- The Global shortage in computer chips 'reaches crisis point'
-- The extraordinary cascade of events caused by the pandemic has led to a severe container shortage crisis.

And now world's biggest container ship blocks the Suez Canal?

The shorter distance via the Northern Sea Route (NSR) comparatively accelerates the route's cost efficiency by 42% and leads to curb the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 52%.
In comparison to the traditional route of Suez Canal, cost savings by using the (NSR) could be as large as about 4.7 million US dollars from a full round voyage between the certain ports.

A photo is worth 1,000 words.
Not only world's biggest container ship blocked the Suez Canal this week.
They even mocked it with this excavator picture !

"Market participants declare that transportation cost has increased from about $1,500 to $6,000-$9,000 per container in February this year (2021). ´

The container shortage also drives up new containers’ prices, as manufacturers know the demand to charge extra.

The Chinese container manufacturers, which dominate the market, are now charging $2,500 for a new container, up from $1,600 last year. In the previous six months, container rental rates have grown by about 50 percent as well."

What is this?

Squeeze the supply chain that moving shipping traffic to the NOrth Sea Route gathers momentum.

the passage of a cargo ship from Shanghai to Hamburg along the North sea route is 2.8 thousand miles shorter than the route through Suez canal.
