The autopsy also said he was infected with Covid-19. I've never heard anyone talk about that.

I think your summary is reasonable. Although I would argue Chauvin had heavy pressure on Floyd's neck for a good amount of time. Nevertheless, homicide laws are pretty specific. At some point while being held down by Chauvin, Floyd lost consciousness. Prosecutors will argue that this constituted substantial bodily harm and, because he died, results in felony murder liability.

Personally, I don’t think Chauvin killed him. But - having subdued and restrained the man, it was his responsibility to make sure he remained well. That, he neglected,

The reason the police subdued this man is to protect the public and themselves. His health and wellness
has to be secondary to that.

A common tactic with criminals when pulled over is to mouth the drugs. Clothes and vehicle are almost always swept for weapons upon a stop, so hiding in the car or on one's person is sure to be found.

...........problem is none of the charges reflect that.

He would not be the first to OD on the drugs he ate in anticipation of being searched.

I thought at first he was killed by the cop. But looks can be deceiving, and a few weeks ago I read the autopsy, and I could not envision myself blaming the death on the cop after having read it. I get it is an imperfect call, but IIRC, the be convicted of a crime there is this reasonable doubt thing. And how anyone could NOT have reasonable doubt I just don’t know.
