I’m okay with retractions but we are really talking about the individual right to be made whole. What happened to Trump was so wrong and dishonest that even retractions would have been inadequate.

I’m not going to look them up but there were numerous times during the Mueller investigation when I stated on this thread or another than CNN and/ or WaPo were obviously lying, they turned out to be, and they never ate their words. That was wrong. Yet Trump had no recourse.

It wasn’t mere incompetence. It was intent to mislead the public. The target should be able to sue for cash. Period. Always, if they abuse the First Amendment privilege.
