Hmm. RFP traded around 27 and UAN 300 in 2011.... do you guys remember what caused this major spike?
I really hate chasing stocks but if we are early in the cycle...these could actually run much higher.

I remember when I first started investing in 1996 I thought semiconductors were so cheap, most had pe under 10....but it was trading there because they were considered cyclical....eventually most started to lose money till next boom cycle. I think it was like 3year cycle if I remember correctly although certain sub sectors did well because of new tech rollout. Cellphone,modem,dvd,internet.....wow there is something to be said for disruptive technology.....Cathy woods ARK etf funds is not a bad idea....some of these sectors will be the future.

Anyone know a good site looking up 52 week lows....yahoo used to be great but now it seems convoluted....just trying to get into cheap stocks or sectors that looks interesting.

I hope everybody is on the UAN train.
Sure wish I was :-) And was close to reconsidering my earlier stance: “I am too late to this party” for a moment, on this one and RFP. But judging from earlier history, both mine and that of many others, and from basic human psychology, I decided that this impulse was probably a sign of it being just the time to refrain. Doesn’t mean that it won’t be a good buy for 2021/2022/2025, just that almost every time that I fall for the temptation of buying mainly because I can’t stand being on the sidelines, it has been followed by a decline of various length and depth (although usually quite substantial). However my investment history is very very short so WTHDIK. My 1 cents is that a better opportunity will present itself the coming weeks/months. (Although I said the same about MAC, which I just got into this week after being (too) stubborn for almost half a year, and with recent price movements, who can really tell anymore...)
Might be different for commodity stocks though. Commodities, like currencies, usually have longer trends (at least, that seems to be the commonly held opinion); maybe it’s the same with stocks that are heavily reliant on the prices of those commodities.

Corn, soy futures hit daily limit

À propos of (almost) nothing: isn’t it quite strange that futures still have ‘limits’? What is the reasoning for that?
(Same as for when stocks rally overly much for no obvs reason?)

I admire your enthusiasm and positive attitude, Elroy. I don't know how others view your posts here about UAN, but they've helped me. I am still adding shares of UAN, hoping you/we are correct on what we believe we see regarding fertilizer demand/pricing.

Maybe a little diversification is called for: I'll start a few shares of MOS now. It should also be a beneficiary of high fertilizer demand. Really riding on UAN though.
