Steve- of course I would buy from a dealer, 3000 miles away if I could save money. And I understand why cpq can't give a discount on the net- the dealers would be up in arms.

But what about the graphics designer in Italy? He would be happy to get a good pro machine over the net at the list prices.

But he can't get a pro machine from Compaq. not on the net.

All he can order on the net are the home machines. To get a pro machine he would have to go to Dell. Not Compaq. Dell claims to be writing 3 million a day in sales from Europe over the net. Where's cpq? they don't even have a bloody phone number that works. (800 # doesn't work outside N. America)

Basically, I want to point out that Compaq might be selling lots of machines, but Dell is beating them solid when it comes to selling into the graphic/cad professionals. I hope you and the compaq folk have read this far and will make an effort to correct the situation, cause that's why I posting it here.
