Oh... I see... it's only ok to bring up Ericsson's past when it suits your purposes? Just don't bring up that it makes YOU look like the person fixated on the past... gotcha... pot... kettle... black....

Yes, we'll see soon enough how the 3G systems come about... hope "Can't quite Quallify-comm" makes it to the telecom big leagues one of these days...

IPR is IPR... QCOM is just as entitled to what they developed as anyone else... if they want to play "it's my ball and I'm going home", they run the risk of the other companies (of which their are quite a few, with at least a little R&D in their budgets) could do an end around and leave them in the cold. Plus, it's not like QCOM is the only company with IPR involved. I'm fairly confident some of the other companies are bringing content to the table as well.

I enjoyed your post, Caxton. Independent of the real merits of TDMA vs. CDMA, however, I found the last two last sentences of the article most intriguing.

These were the particular key phrases which caught my eye:

"...it (IBM) all but exterminated the rival" and "...it didn't matter that for years Apple had the superior operating system." If this analogy proves valid, then all that precedes it is not all that important in the long run.
