I have no idea why the US has any compelling interest in keeping Ukraine independent. Why in the hell should we care?

Kyiv has a wild west spirit, founded by Vikings and carried on by Cossacks it hasn't changed much. So when you find yourself signing a contract with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid don't be too surprised when the money disappears. To bring a drill rig into Ukraine costs 5 times more than the value of the rig thanks to import duties, to try and modify one of their dilapidated rigs would be impossible. They don't allow anything, even things that benefit themselves. I managed to visit Mikhail Bulgakov's house one rainy afternoon...
