>>"you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want -- no background check" <<

I did exactly that, in Utah. I bought from a private seller table, he took my information that I provided, wrote it on a slip of paper he shoved into his pocket ( with false info ), said he do the check 'later'.

Far less of one than when when Biden claimed Georgia passed a new law aimed at preventing theft of the next election, was some kind of Jim Crow legislation. Is that a lie? Of course it is.

Largely true. We've discussed that voter suppression legislation that's been going around. The intent is Jim Crowish.

What about his claim that "you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want -- no background check" -- a totally false statement. Does THAT bother you?

That's also largely true but incomplete. You can, indeed, buy whatever you want at a gun show but the location isn't the critical factor.

So, when Biden accused Trump of allowing immigrant kids to "starve to death on the other side" of the Mexican border (a whopper, told in front of a room full of reporters), I didn't hear you pick up on that.

I never heard of it and can't find enough info to evaluate it.

Trump wanted to "inject bleach", no one corrected that, even though he never said anything remotely like that.

I do recall that one. He did, indeed, say something remotely like that. He said "disinfectant" rather than "bleach," effectively the same thing.

Kessler uses the word "lie" once in all that.

I've engaged in a number of discussions of the meaning of that word on SI. I do think it's used promiscuously. But word meanings change over time and I've had to adjust. By current usage, those were arguably lies.

In our society we have always understood that political lies are acceptable.

They are when politicians are trying to be reassuring to the public or hide classified info or some other beneficial reason. Not when you misrepresent crowd size because of your ego.
