You are 100% wrong. I used to argue on the Usenet in the 1980s (that I helped improve with technology to go faster) before Al Gore invented the internet that the GOP was the reason for their eventual demise in CA. Democrats are a collection of diverse opinions from PETA vegans to militant feminists who are for abortion up to delivery. The GOP USED to be fairly consistent in they wanted you to work for your success and were for equal opportunity, as opposed to "The Southern Democrats" who ruled the Dixie South with Jim Crow laws. Sometime in the 1980s after Roe v. Wade, the GOP had a major split where Catholics, especially legal and illegal immigrants from "Latin America" said "we are not going to have an abortion so we don't need laws to tells us not to do something so terrible BUT we want all the goodies" so many Catholics like Pelosi and Biden became powerful Democrats catering to those who want handouts and higher taxes for those who are successful. Here is CA, especially down your way, we've seen some good, moderate GOP candidates run for Senate and Governor but the Democrats figured out the way to win was to back with money the most conservative, antiabortion GOP leading the primary so they could wipe up getting moderates to vote their way in the general elections where they would offer a more left leaning candidate since they didn't have to move to the center from their otherwise unelectable opposition candidate.

BTW, if you want to make a Liberal's head explode.... Ask them what happens if in 200 years society moves such that both PETA and the anti-choice GOP extremes of the parties are BOTH right in that society removes the names from any buildings where the person named ate animal flesh or supported abortion? If they can't handle that... ask what happens if space aliens land here and harvest us for food (like Rhino tusk poachers violating the Prime Directive) since we obviously have lower intelligence and we ourselves justify eating less intelligent animals and killing our own in the womb? I'm prochoice AND eat meat and these ideas really make me think. The fact society can't have reasonable discussions without calling each other names is sad.
