Nus,
Re -- AMD paid it's interest on it's senior notes yesterday.

You should use the money to pay for a lawyers consultation. After all, if the things continue the way they are, your payments from AMD will soon stop.

greg - Re: " In same time period microsoft has gone from 80
to 155 while Intel has gone from 104 to 85."

WRONG again!

Intel was at $102 - $104 at its highest in August of last year. At the same time, Microsoft was selling for $137 - $140.

Re: "So far price cuts have not detered AMD from gaining reported market share. Do you believe Intel can force AMD out of business??"

Well, just what is AMD's market share? In Q497, they shipped 1.5 million units. Intel shipped 21.5 million units (more or less).

That gives AMD 6.5%

Yes - that is an increase for Q3 where they had about 4.8%.

So you can blow your horn about the massive increase in market share.

BUT - Intel made $1.7 BILLION BUCKOS and AMD Lost what - $30 MILLION BUCKS?

And Intel's stock has climbed back to $86 today - only 14% off its all-tine high and AMD at $20 1/2 is still 58% off its high.

Intel is making money, greg - no matter how you try to describe the situation. They are making vast profits, they are introducing new technology and devices at an incredible rate.

Shareholders in Intel are being amply rewarded.

Paul

greg, Intel is in what we used to call a p*ss*ng contest. This is best played with equals who suffer equally. Right now AMD only has to waste $1 for every $10-15 Intel wastes. (I use the term 'wasted', as it is gone forever and will never be regained)
