Dear John, I and you discussed about this trend (router -> layer-3) five months ago on this thread. Our awareness were way ahead of these analysts. But running too much ahead of the curve is not a good thing - look at me I'm holding some considerable loss in coms right now - in the last few months everything seems to work against coms eventhough it still has some really good technologies. Coms is still not rebounding, even my LSI is almost breaking even for me now ! I think you are also in LSI, are you ? Cisco is a big elephant, it takes much more than one arrow to kill it. Lately its Stratacom purchase seems to be doing quite good taking a contract from Newbridge at US West. I think Cisco's strategy now is to try to rapidly expand into the carrier market to compensate for the loss of its Router market. But in the carrier space, cisco is going to face some very tough competition with huge players like Lu and Seiman. Good luck. Mang (p.s. wow they have spell-check for posting now !)
