You can also look up Timber Sycamore joint operation between US and its allies.

So, this is not a left/right or Biden/Trump issue. It's bigger than that.

The Neocons in his administration notwithstanding, Trump himself wanted to reverse the whole thing. Syria was largely liberated from jihadi control, but not quite entirely (Idlib). The Deep State wanted to keep a foothold in Syria and they knew they could disobey the President without being fired (thanks to FDR/Truman). You really need to give Trump credit for his achievements in Syria.

Let's back up and agree on a few things first.

  • the US lied about WMDs and it knew it was lying. The UN was in Iraq and couldn't verify one word.
  • after we invaded Iraq, we were aware there were no WMDs within days or weeks, but no one demanded we leave with our tails between our legs.
  • the US became one of the most despised countries on the planet because world leaders trusted Bush (global polls show us Obama fixed things and Trump did it to us again).
  • the US is now considered a bigger threat to democracy than China and Russia (new poll).

We invaded a country that never did anything to us and then we called them the terrorists. Now, you're trying to justify this by coming up with conspiracy theories. The war basically ended with the surge, which wasn't a surge at all. In fact, it was the opposite. The US stopped killing innocent people and they stopped killing us. We put more people over there who hid in bunkers and did nothing. They didn't fight more, they hid. Fighting and bombing didn't work, hiding did.
