Some remarks an reflections: I was born in Lugoj Romania, part of southern Transylvania, where the Roman Army under Trajan was badly defeated by the then Dacians under Decebalus in 88 AD I think.at a time the Dacian where outnumbered by 1 to 2.5 or more by several Roman legions (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trajan%27s_Dacian_Wars) Fuscus was killed and the legions lost their banners, adding to the humiliation. Confirmed rumors of Dacian gold and other valuable trade resources inflamed the conflict, as did the Dacians' defiant behavior, as they were "unbowed and unbroken". Dacia sported 250,000 potential combatants, enough to enable an invasion, but it was allied to several of its neighbors and on friendly terms with others that Rome considered enemies. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ When I was born after my parents were sent there, the city had mixed ethnic population, Germans, Schwab's, Romanians, Hungarians, Gypsies and Jews, .with 6 or 7 religions My mother language was German, as even many perished in concentration camps in WWII and my father was sent to a stone quarry, with his back filled with scars, the opinion was that a relative small % of Nazi Germans do not represent the German culture and nation.an opinion I hold today related to ALL nations. To this day I do not know exactly what happen to most of my parents families. There where no ethnic frictions between the various ethnic groups and I was friendly with all kids including Gypsies going fishing on occasions), May point being that people can live in harmony and remember to this day that "matzot" where distributed in small quantities only to Jews, for Passover, but my mother always remembered to send some to my German teacher at school who loved to eat them with coffee and was very happy to receive them. I bring this up especially for TJ who in the last few years started to be ultra-nationalistic and divisive with his China China which is utterly racist, as China is ruled by a totalitarian regime not different from Russia Spain of Franco or Italy of Mussolini or Nazi Germany. with forced work facilities and involuntary organ extraction from inmates and their organs sold to the highest bidder. bottom line why people in most locations around the world cannot live like we lived in Lugoj, true there were sometime frictions mostly between ethnic groups at holidays but never arrived to violence let alone loss of life
