I am one of these diehards too, and this includes John Carmack of Id. He promised to write a patch for the AMD-3D for the Quake Engine. Together with DirectX 6, I think it pretty much covers every 3D game that is worth playing! Now, where can I get hold of a k6-3D?

What effect might this have on speeding up acceptance of Slot 1? Is this a selective attempt by Intel to garner support for Slot 1 and trash AMD's near-term roadmap at the same time??
