the act is we need a a society to have a concerted effort with a pool of funds to progress.. it is that simple.. not binary...

Capital is also binary... you have it... or you don't... ?

You win the trade... or you don't ?

You have the legal right to print all the money you want... out of thin air... or you don't ?

(Hence... as a matter of law... the reason bitcoin exists... as an avoidance of an answer to that question.)

You can steal from others without conseqence... or you can't...?

When income tax was passed, here... the advocates laughed at critics... claiming it was inconceivable that it would ever reach, much less exceed 3%... as that would be such an obvious injustice ?

Successful societies... will be those that do a better job than others... of facilitating public capital formation... while also solving problems and fostering social cohesion... in means, voluntarily.

Societies that fail... will be those that do a better job than others... of destroying capital... while failing in solving problems... and fostering social division and exclusion rather than cohesion... which failure also facilitates. Oppression... a failure in itself, insistently masking others... is disqualifying...

The question that leaves.... is another binary choice to be made... in what it is that defines the differences between the last two... between success and failure... between winners and losers...

Socialism... prefers participation trophies... awarding any effort made as "trying is good enough".

Binary reality disagrees.

My answer, as it has always been... that capitalism and socialism (as its variants in communism / national socialism)... are the same thing... wholly undifferentiated in what they tolerate and value... all being fully rooted in a failed belief that success is a function of a properly structured materialism... and all there is to quibble about is what is the proper structure...

As you are confused about socialism representing / fostering the good in things it does not... so others are similarly convinced that capitalism represents and fosters those goods... in things it does not...

They are morally equivalent... both rooted in THE SAME materialistic ideology... differing only in the "means" they think necessary to enable "and a miracle happens here"... to pair with their hand waving in explanation.

You are correct about what you say re materialism not being the key to happiness...

You simply have not gone beyond that to discover... what is...

The virtues you wrongly ascribe to socialism... CANNOT adhere to it... ? They have other origins.

Confusion... is a virtue... that facilitates avoiding making decisions... under uncertainty ?
