Janice and George and All, I can see a number of sound reasons for not releasing the White House log. It comes under the heading of backing a truck up to the White House, I think. (Dang! Missed it by one! Blame that confounded new screen preview feature at SI! But, all in all, an otherwise great feature for the myopic among us.)
